Virtual Environments so far have mostly been used for the display of virtual
scenes. As interactivity is introduced into the environments manipulations are
limited to lighting, sound and simple manipulations of the Transformation
Matrix of the individual geometric entities. The SEMI-AUTOMATIC
SPACE DOODLE demonstrator necessitates the manipulation of the geometric entity
itself, as in each growth step one new vertex point and two new triangles are
being defined. Successful development of such a facility could be an important
step in the direction of more complex interactivity models or even in developing
virtual environments as design rather than mere display tools.
